Extramammary Paget’s disease (EMPD) is a rare skin cancer that most often appears around the genitalia, groin and perianal regions in women and men. It can also appear elsewhere in the body. EMPD can look innocuous and is often ignored. However, early diagnosis helps tremendously with the treatment of the disease. If you suspect you might have EMPD, see your doctor. In Vivo Reflectance Confocal Microscopy (RCM)
Dr. Alexander Witkowski is a medical dermatologist specializing in the early detection of skin cancers (particularly melanoma), eczema, seborrheic dermatitis and acne. He completed his medical training and residency in Europe as well as his Ph.D. in Modena (Italy), focused on implementing virtual biopsies with reflectance confocal microscopy and its application to diagnosing melanoma subtypes at the patient bedside.
Dr. Pascale Guitera is a Dermatologist, originally from France, specializing in skin tumours. She has completed her PhD in collaboration with the Curie Institute (one of Europe’s leading scientific institutions) on instrumentations for the diagnosis of skin tumours. Dr. Guitera has a particular interest in the technique of in vivo confocal microscopy.
Dr. Yélamos is European Board Certified Dermatologist and Venereologist (UEMS-EBDV), currently working at Hospital Clínic, Barcelona (Spain) and Hospital Teknon-Quirónsalud, Barcelona (Spain) where he combines research activities with patient care. He is also studying the impact of in vivo reflectance confocal microscopy in guiding surgery and topical treatments in dermatology.
