Extramammary Paget’s disease (EMPD) is a rare skin cancer that most often appears around the genitalia, groin and perianal regions in women and men. It can also appear elsewhere in the body. EMPD can look innocuous and is often ignored. However, early diagnosis helps tremendously with the treatment of the disease. If you suspect you might have EMPD, see your doctor. Dr. Catherine Harrell is a board-certified dermatologist with extensive training in medical dermatology, cutaneous oncology, dermatologic surgery, and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Harrell has a special interest in complex medical dermatology, bullous skin disorders, psoriasis and treatment of skin cancer.
Dr. Silvina Pugliese, MD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Attending Physician at the Stanford Medicine Outpatient Center and Stanford Cancer Institute. She attended medical school at Boston University and completed her residency at Loma Linda, serving as Chief Resident in her final year. Dr. Pugliese is interested in the management of cutaneous complications associated with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, organ transplantation, and their impact on patient quality of life.
Dr. Sumaira Z. Aasi, M.D., is a Professor of Dermatology and Director of Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Aasi completed a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and cutaneous oncology at Yale University where she was on faculty and served as Associate Chief. Dr. Aasi clinical interests include management of high risk nonmelanoma skin cancers, Mohs histopathology, and reconstructive surgery.
