Dr. Anthony M. Rossi, MD is a board certified dermatologist with fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and advanced cutaneous oncology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical College program. Dr. Rossi treats skin cancers as well as benign skin conditions and hope to provide comprehensive dermatologic care. He has specialized training and expertise in dermoscopy and other non-invasive methods of imaging skin to help delineate borders of lentigo maligna and nonmelanoma skin cancers before surgery. His main research focus is to apply this technology to image nonmelanoma and melanoma skin cancers to help better delineate subclinical margins as well as monitor treatment.
Dr. Rossi is also very interested in the use of lasers and light based devices to treat different types of cutaneous diseases. He is combining the use of non-invasive imaging in a research setting to enhance the use of lasers for cutaneous malignancies. While laser ablation is a feasible method to destroy cutaneous tumors it is not specific in its target. Utilizing imaging pre and post ablation is possibly a way to better demarcate tumor boundaries and then confirm tumor destruction. He is also working on a study to examine the quality of life impact that radiation induced breast telangiectasias may have on women treated for breast cancer and subsequently utilizing a laser to remove these.
Dr. Rossi's goal is to deliver high quality care both surgically and nonsurgically as well as help patient prevent further skin malignancies. He works closely with his colleagues in a multidisciplinary approach to best help our patients. He serves as the Dermatologic Surgery Young Physician Representative for the American Medical Association advocating for patient and physician rights. He also serves on numerous committees for the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the New York State Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery Society. He has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters on topics such as cutaneous oncology as well as treatment of scars and he actively participates in the education of residents, medical students, and fellows. He is a peer review editor for the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and on the editorial board of Cutis. He continues his passion to volunteer internationally providing dermatologic care in remote areas of Ghana, Botswana, Kenya, and Tanzania.
